Doug Watt discusses his journey incorporating a digital dentistry workflow and the practice’s experience with it.
When Dr Watt first moved to his practice, there was already investment in the digital dentistry workflow.
There was a CEREC machine, in-house milling and the practice’s next investment was with a CBCT scanner.
Digital dentistry workflow
Speaking with laboratories, Dr Watt realised the next purchase to improve the digital dentistry workflow should be a Trios scanner.
This was a revelation, because it meant he was certain of the workflow and the fit.
He continued along the digital dentistry workflow because it offered a degree of predictability.
Following this he invested in a 3D printer to offer surgical guides for implant dentistry.
After a while Dr Watt started offering 3D printed mock-ups and using them for diagnostics.
‘There has been a massive degree of excitement’, Dr Watt explains.
‘The nursing staff feel involved, they can see patient reactions when they show how digital dentistry improves results.
‘It gives extra interest to improve staff morale and interest.
‘We feel we’re at the cutting edge and at the forefront of dentistry.
‘So the staff really feel we’re doing the best we possibly can for our patients.’
