Scottish dental school wins NHS education award

The University of Glasgow Dental School has won the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Excellence in Education Award

Following an exceptional outcome to the inspection of the BDS programme at Glasgow by the GDC in April 2019, the course has been presented with an Excellence in Education Award by NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

General manager of regional services for NHS GGC, Mrs Frances McLinden, nominated the school for the award.

Award-winning education

The award ceremony was held at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital learning and teaching centre in September.

Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak presented the award to Dr Aileen Bell and Mrs Jackie Wilson.

The School has also been ranked first in the UK for dentistry in the Complete University Guide 2020.

It has previously topped the table in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2019 and is top of The Times Good University Guide 2020.

Established in 1879, Glasgow Dental Hospital and School delivers an integrated BDS programme over five years to approximately 400 students.

It is the second largest dental school in the UK.
