Here’s what’s in store:

Pecha Kucha is a series of simple presentations where speakers present in a fast paced, yet highly practical format, which received rave reviews at this year’s Dentistry Show. It means that you will get quality information quickly and leave informed on the following areas:

Get yourself over to ‘NHS Dentistry Insights Panel – Live!’ taking place on Saturday 8 October and bag yourself an exclusive seat at the debate of all debates, where key opinion leaders and panel members Eddie Crouch, David Houston, Andrew Lockhart-Mirams and David Bretton, will discuss the latest NHS Confidence Monitor results (a survey that has been tracking the profession’s confidence levels since 2014).

They will be offering their thoughts and insights into the reasons behind the results and debate the options the profession has to improve their situation – right now and in the future. Not to be missed and starts at 3pm.

It’s safe to say that there is going to be something for everyone.


Paul Worskett has been the principal of Amblecote Dental Care in the West Midlands since 1988. Paul has extensive experience of dentistry and has a special interest in cosmetic and implant dental care. He has had two papers published in the BDJ and Dental Update. Amblecote Dental Care is a prototype practice as part of the on-going NHS contract reform process, having initially been a pilot practice since 2011.

David Bretton is a young graduate, qualifying from Newcastle in 2013. He now works in a mixed NHS and private practice at Honley Dental in Yorkshire. Since qualifying, David has completed a number of courses in advanced restorative and aesthetic dentistry and he is very passionate about the profession.

David Houston is joint principal of the Houston Group of Dental Practices, offering both NHS and private treatment. He is a wet-fingered dentist five days a week, but extends his dental experience into lecturing and writing for professional journals such as Private Dentistry and Aesthetic Dentistry Today. He was also former clinical governance lead for North Somerset Primary Care Trust.

Andrew Lockhart-Mirams co-founded Lockharts Solicitors in 1995 after 15 years of primary care regulatory and contract work. For more than 20 years, he acted for the ‘General Practitioners Committee of the BMA’ on a wide range of regulatory and contractual issues. In 2005, he was given an award at the ‘Annual LMC Conference Dinner’ in recognition of 21 years’ service to GPs in the UK. In 2011, Andrew’s name was entered on the BDA’s Roll of Distinction for Outstanding Services to UK Dentistry, the only solicitor to have received this award. He is the current chairman of the NASDAL Lawyers’ group.

Dr Tony Kilcoyne works mainly in his own specialist referral practice and teaching centre. He is also a dental foundation training programme director, a clinical director of 4everlearning.com, he helps and advises many dentally related companies. He was selected to be one of the team dentists caring for all the international athletes during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Judith Husband is a clinical dentist working in secure-setting dental care, such as Bullingdon Community Prison, sits on the BDA Executive Board and is a member of the Wesleyan Advisory Board. She is also chair of The Oxfordshire Local Dental Committee. She has a wide experience of healthcare reforms, liaising with significant stakeholders and keeping up-to-date with changes throughout healthcare, in particular NHS dentistry.

Eddie Crouch works in two practices in Birmingham. He is vice chair of the Birmingham Local Dental Committee, vice chair of the British Dental Association Principal Executive Committee and past chair of Central Counties Branch of the British Dental Association. Aside from his time practising, Eddie has also worked on projects associated with NHS contract reform, which means he’s familiar with the way the system works and has seen how it has changed over the years.

Dr Len D’Cruz graduated in 1989 from the Royal London Hospital. He is a past chairman of the BDA Young Dentist Committee and examiner for the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. He is currently a member of the BDA General Dental Practitioners Committee and a non-executive director of the BDA elected to the Principle Executive Committee.
