Generous supporters save dental charity

Bridge2Aid (B2A) is delighted to report that, exactly eight weeks after launching its urgent appeal, the charity reached its target of £50,000.

CEO Mark Topley said: ‘This is all due to our generous supporters, and we can’t thank them enough. We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to our emergency and are humbled by the generosity and kindness shown by so many.

‘It’s a huge encouragement for the entire Bridge2Aid family and we can now look forward to continuing with our vital work, delivering much needed dental training programmes to rural-based health workers in developing nations.’

B2A required urgent financial help due to a large, unexpected deduction (70%) of a grant from the charity’s largest sponsor, due to a fall in the sponsor’s own profits. This issue was unfortunately compounded by Bridge2Aid falling victim to a sophisticated cheque fraud in Tanzania, orchestrated by an organised crime ring.

These two incidents combined meant that instead of starting 2014 with a low reserve, which the team could manage, B2A was faced with a significant challenge to deliver treatment and training programmes in the first part of the year.

B2A has big plans for the future and sincerely hopes that many people will able to join the charity on its journey – be it as a volunteer, fundraiser, friend of Bridge2Aid or by becoming a unity partner. There are many ways to get involved and continue supporting the dental training programmes, and B2A is confident that there is an opportunity for everyone.

If you would like to continue to be a part of the B2A family and join them on their journey to free the world from dental pain, please visit www.bridge2aid.org.
