All dentists and dental care professionals (DCPs) are being encouraged to download the revised CPD guidance available from the General Dental Council (GDC) website.
The Continuing Professional Development for Dental Professionals guidance has been revised to ensure it reflects the GDC’s new principles set out in Standards for the Dental Team. It also provides an opportunity to refresh the format and layout, and merge two former CPD booklets into one.
The guidance does not introduce any new CPD requirements for registrants.
The guidance sets out the requirements in a straightforward way and is clear about what these requirements are in law. It also has useful advice and sets out the GDC’s CPD requirements firmly in the context of good quality dental practice and patient safety.
The GDC has also revised the information available about CPD on its website which is available here to make it easier and quicker to navigate. A series of useful frequently asked questions will also available shortly.
All registrants are encouraged to read the revised guidance and become familiar with it.
