Conference success for Business of Dentistry

The first ever, Business of Dentistry (BoD) Practice Managers’ Conference, which took place on 13 and 14 June at Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire, has proven to be a great success, attracting close to 100 delegates from all over the UK.

The one-day conference was hosted by Sheila Scott and included a variety of inspirational and educational presentations from a number of leading dental consultants and speakers including Laura Horton, Emma John and Apolline, all of which were specifically tailored to the requirements of practice managers. The day also featured short testimonials from practice managers’ who shared their invaluable experience with the audience.

Les Jones, marketing director of BoD, said: ‘The event was a genuine success. We were aware that there was little in the way of specific training for practice managers and so in response, we wanted to create an event that encouraged and fostered the exchange of useful insights on all matters relating to managing a practice. From the feedback we’ve received, we know the conference achieved this and a great deal more.’

On the evening of Wednesday 13, there was a networking opportunity for delegates to meet with fellow practice managers at an evening reception and dinner. Delegates found this a really beneficial part of the whole event and it set them up well for the following day’s conference, especially for those people who had come by themselves.

Conference host Sheila Scott said: ‘This was a must for all practice managers and for those principals who are still managing without a dedicated manager. We had presentations from some of the best speakers and from practice managers who told of their experiences on a number of topics. People were frantically scribbling down key idea after key idea all through the day. I’m wishing I’d nagged more of my own clients – and with more fervour – to come!’

BoD has plans to make the Practice Managers’ Conference a permanent fixture in the dental event calendar, satisfying a growing need for events specifically tailored to the business and development needs of practice managers.
