A daredevil dental professor made a Christmas drop with a difference during the festive period.
Professor Damien Walmsley dressed up as Father Christmas to abseil down into the Star City leisure centre in Birmingham to raised funds for his local hospice.
With his daughter, Natasha – and other charity abseilers – Damien, of the School of Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, and who is scientific officer for the BDA, abseiled through the central atrium to raised more than £1,100, making Santa’s annual clamber down your chimney seem like a piece of Christmas cake.
The event helped raise funds for vital palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses across Birmingham and Sandwell.
