The first Bruxism Awareness Week is being launched next month.
The week will be supported by a practice information pack that is free to all UK practices.
It is the brainchild of S4S, a specialist dental splints laboratory.
The week runs from 25-31 October and is backed by clinicians nationwide.
It will focus public and professional attention on the condition and provide information on where to seek help.
Bruxism Awareness Week will be supporting Help for Heroes, with a £1 donation being made to the charity for every bruxism splint provided by S4S until the end of the year.
Recent statistic indicate that a staggering one in two staff members of the armed forces serving in the second Gulf War suffered from PTSD, a major symptom of which is bruxism. As part of the awareness week, S4S will be offering free training to military dentists to improve their treatment of bruxism and enhance understanding within the profession.
A Facebook group has also been set up for people suffering from bruxism, and currently has just over 100 members.
