‘Dental care’ donations will pay for Alex Higgin’s funeral

The cash raised for snooker legend Alex Higgins’ dental treatment will now be used to pay for his funeral.

Just a few months ago, shocking pictures of the snooker star appeared in the national media after it was revealed Higgins was losing his fight to stay alive due to the inability to eat properly.

The snooker legend had been battling throat cancer and had been left with no teeth.

Following the articles about his deteriorating health, a number of dentists offered to treat the snooker star, although he was too ill to be treated.

Alex Higgins was found dead in his flat in Belfast on Saturday.

His spokeseperson, Will Robinson, said the money raised at a gala dinner would now be used to pay for the funeral.

A total of £10,000 was raised to help Higgins pay for dental care. Mr Robinson said that he wanted to give the snooker legend a ‘great send-off’.
