Smiles better for the big day

A London aesthetic dentistry practice has reported a dramatic rise in women having cosmetic dentistry treatments for their big day.

Lead clinician Dr Anoop Maini from the Aqua Dental Spa says he has noticed an increase of almost double in the run up to summer, with many women opting for whitening or veneers to give them the perfect wedding day smile.

Monika Patel, of Harrow in London, had never been happy with the colour of her teeth and decided to undergo a ‘smile makeover’ to ensure they would outshine her dress.

She said: ‘As my wedding date loomed, I had lots to organise and hadn’t really considered my teeth, until I tried on my deep ivory dress and realised my teeth were the same shade!

‘I think that was the catalyst for my decision to opt for whitening before my wedding day. I also decided to have veneers done at the front at the same time, to improve my bite and smile appearance.’

According to Dr Maini, clinic founder and board member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD): ‘I am noticing more women coming for ‘smile makeovers’ in time for their wedding.

‘It is usually women who may have been considering cosmetic dentistry treatment for some time, and the wedding is the catalyst as many want to be able to smile with confidence on their big day. Whitening is still the most popular treatment, but veneers have been a growth area too.’
