Dr Miguel Stanley has urged clinicians to embrace what he describes as ‘one of the most exciting periods’ the profession has ever known, ahead of his appearance as keynote speaker at the North of England Dentistry Show in Manchester.
‘What a time to be alive if you’re a dentist,’ he told Dentistry. ‘We’re so lucky to get to use some of the most advanced technologies and software in the world right now, and to work in an ecosystem that allows the time to actually use all of it.’
His philosophy for putting these technologies and techniques into action will be opened up to UK audiences on 13 February, where Miguel will be delivering a keynote that blends cutting-edge innovation with a firm commitment to clinical fundamentals. Titled ‘No half smiles’, the session draws on a philosophy he says he has been developing for almost 20 years.
‘This concept was developed almost two decades ago, and I’m staying very true to it,’ he explained. ‘Cutting no corners, doing everything you need to do to get that epic result that you, your patients and your business need – and doing it ethically, with technology and great treatment planning.’
A more holistic approach to care
At the heart of his message is a call to think beyond individual procedures and adopt a more holistic approach to care. ‘We have to rebuild mouths,’ he says, describing dentistry as a balance of ‘biology, function and aesthetics’ – from gum health and hard tissue, through to occlusion, stability and long-term visual outcomes.
Miguel will also explore how advanced digital tools can help clinicians achieve greater predictability and longevity in their work, promising to answer his own question: ‘How can we use advanced technologies to make less mistakes and achieve higher predictability and overall longevity of our therapies?’
His appearance forms part of a wider NOE 26 programme focused on innovation, prevention and the evolving relationship between oral health and overall wellbeing – bringing together clinicians who are actively shaping the future of practice.
For those looking to reconnect with what is possible in modern dentistry, Miguel’s message is simple: ‘Join me and all the other amazing speakers… I’m bringing this all to Manchester. I hope to see you there.’
