The Straumann Group Charity Bike Ride will head to new heights this year as energetic cyclists pedal to raise funds for Dentaid The Dental Charity.
The Straumann team is gearing up for an exciting and exhilarating circular ride through Switzerland, France and Germany.
Starting at Straumann Group’s global head office in Basel, the 500-mile route takes riders through the picturesque Vosges National Park, the lush vineyards of the Alsace wine region and the renowned Black Forest with its castles and fairy-tale settings.
For the first time, riders will be able to choose from two different routes, each covering more than 100 kilometres a day, with seasoned climbers able to take on mountain sections that often form part of the iconic Tour de France such as the Grand and Petit Ballon.
Community and friendship
This is the third time that Straumann Group has supported Dentaid through the charity bike ride. In 2022 and 2024 rides through northern Spain and Portugal helped to fund new mobile dental units used for outreach dental clinics for people experiencing homelessness, harm, poverty and abuse.
This year’s ride will help to support Dentaid’s work across the UK including the provision of care for vulnerable women and families affected by violence and abuse. Riders, who include Straumann customers and staff, are asked to raise £1,500 to support Dentaid’s life-changing work.
Andy Evans, CEO of Dentaid The Dental Charity, said: ‘It’s fantastic that Straumann have chosen us for their Charity Bike Ride. I’ve had the pleasure of taking part in the last two Straumann Charity Bike Rides and the sense of community and friendship from everyone involved is just immense. The whole event is so well organised and supported – as riders we feel very well looked after and this year’s route looks incredible.
‘This event means so much to us as it enables Dentaid to support other charities where their clients struggle to access dentistry. We are seeing an increased demand from projects who look after vulnerable communities, partially from woman’s refuges, and with the support of the Straumann Bike Ride we will be able to help more projects like these.
‘It’s a great pleasure to know that everyone’s hard work in the mountains is helping Dentaid to reach vulnerable people in need of dental care.’
‘Truly worthwhile’
Steve Booth, UK managing director at Straumann Group, said: ‘I’m incredibly excited to be taking part in Straumann’s seventh charity bike ride. It’s always a challenge but knowing we’re doing it in support of such a vital cause makes it truly worthwhile. Supporting Dentaid is especially meaningful for us – we’ve built a strong and trusted relationship over the years, and this will be the third ride we’ve proudly completed for them. Seeing the real impact their work has on improving access to dental care is hugely motivating.
‘Beyond the ride itself, we’re also delighted to be developing a further ongoing partnership between Dentaid and the global Straumann Group Foundation, reinforcing our long-term commitment to making a positive difference in oral health worldwide.’
