Practices are reminded that time is running out to enter the 2026 National Association of Specialist Dental Administrators and Lawyers (NASDAL) Dental Check by One (DCby1) Practice of the Year award.
Closing on Friday 6 February 2026 at 5pm, the award seeks to recognise a practice that has successfully introduced the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) Dental Check by One into their practice. The aim of the initiative is to increase the number of children who access dental care aged zero to two years by campaigning to get infants into a dentist’s chair by their first birthday.
The award will be presented by chief dental officer (CDO) for England, Jason Wong, at the BDIA Dental Showcase in Docklands Excel on Friday 13 March 2026.
‘A life-long journey of good oral health’
NASDAL Chair Heidi Marshall said: ‘Now in its eighth year, we look forward to seeing how entrants have connected with their communities and engaged local families. While doing the right thing makes good business sense, this award is not about patient numbers alone. We’re looking for practices that have taken a creative, thoughtful approach. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to share your initiatives with us.’
Dr Oosh Devalia, BSPD President said: ‘BSPD urges dental practices to share the great efforts being made to get infants into the dentist’s chair when they are tiny. We all know how important it is that families receive evidence-based prevention advice during the period when their baby is six to 12 months and that this helps set children up on a life-long journey of good oral health.
‘We are aware that even with some access challenges, many dental teams are using creative approaches and community outreach to encourage parents and carers to bring their babies into the surgery. So do take a few moments to submit your work and the prestigious NASDAL DCby1 Practice of the Year Award 2026 could be yours. The prize is presented by CDO England at a ceremony with media publicity.’
Practices who are interested in entering the 2026 NASDAL DCby1 award, should visit www.nasdal.org.uk/award, where they will find all the relevant details and can register. All entries must be submitted before 5pm, Friday 6th February 2026. The winning practice will receive £1000, a trophy, and the right to use the NASDAL Dental Check by One Practice of the Year 2026 title.
