Dr Newton Fahl lights up London at record-breaking congress

Tokuyama Dental reports back from DENTAESTHIQUE 2025, a two-day congress focused on hands-on dental education.

The UK dental education scene witnessed an unprecedented milestone as DENTAESTHIQUE 2025, powered by Tokuyama Dental, Trycare, and Smile Dental Academy, brought together a record-breaking 100 hands-on delegates for an elite two-day congress at the iconic Glaziers Hall, London Bridge.

With an exceptional faculty of international and UK educators, 20 clinical demonstrators from Smile Dental Academy, and a packed auditorium of passionate clinicians, DENTAESTHIQUE 2025 has firmly established itself as one of the most prestigious and elite aesthetic dentistry events ever held in the UK.

A new era for hands-on dental education

The highlight of the congress was the appearance of Dr Newton Fahl Jr, the world-renowned Brazilian maestro of aesthetic and restorative dentistry. Recognised globally as one of the foremost authorities on composite artistry, Dr Fahl captivated delegates with his unrivalled mastery of the polychromatic layering technique, structural colour concept, and biomimetic approach to anterior restorations.

His lectures combined art, science, and philosophy – exploring how light, shade, and anatomy interact to recreate natural beauty. Delegates described his live demonstrations as ‘mesmerising’, as he seamlessly layered composites to mimic the depth and vitality of enamel and dentine.

‘Dr Fahl’s presence elevated the event beyond education – it became an artistic experience,’ said one delegate. ‘Watching him work was like watching Michelangelo sculpt a smile.’

Hosted by Dr Paul Midha, DENTAESTHIQUE 2025 delivered a dynamic blend of lectures, live demonstrations, and immersive hands-on training. The event was powered by Smile Dental Academy, co-led by Dr Jin J Vaghela and Dr Kish Patel, whose shared vision continues to elevate postgraduate education across the UK and internationally.

Record-breaking hands-on excellence

Delegates refined their anterior composite artistry using Tokuyama’s cutting-edge materials, including Estelite Asteria and Omnichroma, under the guidance of 20 clinical demonstrators from Smile Dental Academy, ensuring every participant received individual mentorship and feedback.

The record-breaking hands-on session – featuring 100 clinicians working simultaneously – created a collaborative, high-energy environment rarely seen in dental education. The high faculty-to-delegate ratio, coupled with live expert oversight, made it one of the most ambitious and successful practical events ever held in UK dentistry.

World-class educators, global inspiration

Alongside Dr Fahl, an exceptional line-up of speakers delivered insight and inspiration across all aspects of aesthetic dentistry:

  • Dr Jurgita Sybaite (UK) explored ‘Aesthetics gone wrong’, tackling treatment planning, smile design, and communication pitfalls
  • Dr Thomas Taha (UK) delivered a powerful session on preventing failures in anterior bonding and creating predictable, long-lasting restorations
  • Dr Rhodri Thomas (UK) demonstrated digital integration, natural anatomy, and material-based anterior techniques with precision and artistry.

Each speaker brought their own brilliance, merging artistry with clinical precision. Together, they reinforced the UK’s reputation for hosting aesthetic congresses of true international calibre.

Elite learning in a premier setting

Set against the backdrop of the river Thames, Glaziers Hall provided the perfect venue for this landmark event. Its modern facilities, elegant interiors, and panoramic views of London Bridge offered a fitting stage for two days of world-class education.

The programme blended day one lectures with a day two immersive hands-on experience, giving clinicians immediate opportunities to apply newly learned techniques. Delegates practised layering, finishing, and polishing protocols with direct one-to-one support from Smile Dental Academy demonstrators.

A milestone for UK aesthetic dentistry

Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing DENTAESTHIQUE as ‘transformational’ and ‘the most comprehensive composite event ever hosted in the UK’.

For Smile Dental Academy, led by Dr Jin J Vaghela and Dr Kish Patel, the event represented another milestone in its mission to deliver education that bridges artistry and science – creating environments where clinicians can refine their skills through mentorship and mastery.

Dr Paul Midha, event host, reflected: ‘This was a historic moment for UK dentistry – 100 delegates learning side by side from the world’s best. The atmosphere was electric, the collaboration inspiring, and the outcomes exceptional. DENTAESTHIQUE 2025 has set a new benchmark for hands-on education.’

Powered by Tokuyama, Trycare, and Smile Dental Academy

The success of DENTAESTHIQUE 2025 was a testament to the collaboration between Tokuyama Dental, Trycare, and Smile Dental Academy – three organisations united by a shared commitment to advancing clinical excellence and education.

Their partnership brought together innovation in materials, expertise in education, and leadership in professional development, creating a seamless and world-class experience for delegates.

A special thank you goes to Trycare, the main event partner, for their exceptional contribution and continued commitment to dental education. NSK and Enlighten also provided vital support, helping to deliver a premium learning experience from start to finish.

The organisers also extended heartfelt thanks to Joe Lovett, whose behind-the-scenes coordination, attention to detail, and unwavering enthusiasm were instrumental in making the event such a resounding success.

With its record attendance, global faculty, and flawless execution, DENTAESTHIQUE 2025 will be remembered as a defining moment in UK postgraduate dental education.

It demonstrated that when world-leading educators, visionary organisations, and passionate clinicians come together, the results are transformative.

As delegates left Glaziers Hall inspired and motivated, one message resonated clearly across the profession: The future of aesthetic dentistry in the UK has never looked brighter – and DENTAESTHIQUE, powered by Tokuyama, Trycare, and Smile Dental Academy, is leading the way.
