IT Project Manager – Kearsley (M26 1GG)

Job Purpose:  

To lead, plan and manage multiple medium – large sized IT projects or a work streams within a large programme within {my}dentist to ensure successful delivery to an approved timescale, cost and scope, which meets customer quality expectations by following the  {my}dentist project methodology.  The IT project manager will need to manage multiple projects at once.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver the project/s to the approved timescale, cost and scope, and which meets the agreed pre-defined quality expectations of the customer.
  • Identify and work with key stakeholders to design and plan projects along with the relevant activities that will deliver the business benefit.
  • Lead and motivate the project team.
  • Proactively monitor the projects overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
  • Manage operational, IT and 3rd party project resource.
  • Manage the projects budget, by monitoring the expenditure and cost against the projects progress.
  • Proactively build relationships with all key stakeholders in order to positively influence and persuade
  • Identify and manage any risk/issues that could affect the project through the duration of the project
  • Ensure that all the project’s documentation is created and updated accordingly within the guidelines of {my}dentist project methodology.
  • Develop a plan that reviews and evaluates the benefits that were originally defined in the business case
  • Lead senior project and steering group meetings.
  • Define and develop test strategies for IT projects.
  • Create and prepare detailed business cases with supporting evidence.
  • Support the IT Service Delivery Manager to drive continuous improvement across the IT Service Delivery team.
  • Complete business analysis activities as required including requirements gathering, mapping of processes and recommending solution based on requirements,


Person Specification


  • 2-3 years experience managing IT projects within a fast moving environment
  • Qualification in project management e.g. Prince 2, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, Agile
  • In depth knowledge of project lifecycle
  • Experience of delivering web applications, hardware rollouts and software development projects
  • Knowledge of business analysis best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to influence at all levels throughout the business


  • Ability to work on multiple projects
  • System implementation across a large estate e.g. EPOS roll out or similar hardware/software roll out
  • New store or branch, or set up of an IT environment
  • Experience of software development projects by an internal development team or external team
  • Business analysis skills
  • Experience of VOIP, Web,/Ecommerce, Sharepoint or Clinical software projects
  • Experience of clinical or NHS projects
