This session will explore the oral microbiome, its function and its impact on oral health.
We will be taking a deep dive into a rapidly expanding and novel field of dentistry which helps you as a clinician diagnose disease better, treat disease efficiently and communicate with your patients more effectively.
We will consider some of the latest research on how the oral microbiome is connected to general diseases as well as oral diseases.
In addition, we will discuss techniques for measuring the oral microbiome and what you can do as a dental professional to manage it effectively.

Victoria Sampson
Dr Victoria Sampson is a functional dentist and researcher based in central London. She obtained her bachelor in dental surgery from Barts and the London and is now known for her work in developing salivary diagnostics and microbiome testing.
Her work has been acknowledged worldwide resulting in her becoming a scientific advisor, board member and clinical lead of multiple dental companies globally. Victoria has published numerous papers in the UK and internationally and was the first dentist in the world to link gum disease with worse COVID-19 complications.
She is also the first dentist to shortlist for Forbes 30 under 30 in healthcare and science in Europe and has now co-founded her own multidisciplinary health centre in London aimed at putting the mouth back in the body and connecting the oral microbiome with general health.
